By Maia N.

I took this picture because it really stood out to me. There are so many little creeks and bridges all over camp and they are very beautiful. This particular bridge stood out to me because of the flowers and plants around it. I thought it was very meaningful and beautiful.

By Talya S.

This picture is of a rose in the little garden next to the BKR. I took this picture because I thought the flower was pretty, and in the background you can see the trees of the Kikar-tzion.

This is the hip-hop chug with some campers in my edah (Amitzim). They are dancing. They are my friends and they are sabbaba which means cool. I have a lot of fun with them.

I always think of this place when I think of camp. I love Shabbat because we get all dressed up and on Friday night here everyone is dressed up. I loved the angle of this photo because it shows my favorite view of Kikar-tzion

Shabbat at Ramah: Piece by Piece

A little patch-work perspective from each member of the blogging team reflecting a shabbat at Ramah.

Favorite parts of shabbat: Relaxing and getting dressed
On Friday the time came to get dressed for the sabbath. I tried on about three outfits before I found one I liked, (not that I didn't look amazing in the other outfits, but I wanted to wear one that I knew I would be able to wear again after 50 muffins!). My black, knee-length shoulder/collar bone covering dress was amazing. Then I struggled with my hair. Up or down. I wasn't the only one struggling. My counselor Mia asked some questions regarding makeup (like I was listening.) But anyhow my tent-mates Dalia and Natalie N. were fighting over who to do their eyeliner. In the end we all looked beautiful. -By Naomi

Favorite parts of shabbat: The food and free sport time
Shabbat dinner was amazing. First we had challah. My tent ate multiple challahas, because they were SO tasty. After, we ate yummy noodle soup and chicken. Everyone loved the shabbat dinner. We all ate our fill of the challah, soup, potatoes, and chicken. -By Talya

Favorite part of shabbat: The food
On Saturday morning we ate muffins and cereal. We prayed and read Torah. I felt tired, but not for gaga. At the breakfast table we played 50-50 where we needed to eat fifty muffins and fifty cereals a tent. Gaga was fun but difficult. Later on in the afternoon we sang and danced. We also listened to a story about how sometimes you can make exceptions to rules. We had a lot of fun. -By Jesse

Favorite part of shabbat: The Saturday afternoon story
A good part of shabbat was learning about shabbat. I thought the best part of learning was the story. The story was about enjoying shabbat. The story was interesting because the rabbis in the story were trying to feel the "holy" feeling.  They didn't do anything in the end because they didn't feel anything. The story was a moral. -By Nathan

Favorite parts of shabbat: The kiddish cup, Friday night/Saturday morning food, and Havdallah
Everyone stood in a circle while they held hands and sung at the same time. The candle was lit and the spices went around. Ahhh... Havdallah. This was definitely my favorite part of shabbat. Once shabbat was over, everyone gathered with their respective tents and got ice cream! I was with my friend and it was so much fun. Everyone then went on to their peulot erev (night activity). My tent went to the whizin to do 80's style Jazzercise! We moved around, stretched, and danced. It was definitely the best Saturday night EVER. -By Maia

Practice Interview with David Ben Gurion

We had a mock interview with David Ben Guion, the first prime minister of Israel. We researched him and then took turns asking questions about the information. We learned that sometimes what seem like small information can be more important later. This activity helped us prepare for an interview.

Jesse: How long were you in office?

David BG: I was in office from 1948 to 1954, then 1955 to 1963.

Nathan: Did you ever do military work?

David BG: Yes, I did, as part of my prime minister job. I also worked on national projects.

Maia: When are where were you born?

David BG: I was born on October 16th, 1886 in Piorisk, Congress Boland.

Talya: How many children did you have? How many?

David BG: Yes, I had three children.

Maia: Were you married?

David BG: Yes, my wife was named Paula Nurweis and I married her in 1917.

Naomi: What else did you do in your life?

David BG: I was part of the Russian Revolution.

Nathan: What was your job before becoming the prime minister?

David BG: I used to be a journalist.

Jesse: When did you resign and why?

David BG: I resigned in 1954 for personal reasons.

Nathan: What is Zionism and why do you believe in it?

David BG: Zionism is the belief that the Jewish people will have their own homeland. Israel is the chosen homeland for the Jewish people and this is a strong belief that I have.

We have all learned a lot about the first Israeli prime minister that we wouldn't have known before.

What we like about camp so far/what we are looking foward to!

Maia N:
So far, I am loving the tents! My tent is awesome and clean. I am happy in my sport (volleyball). I have so many but bites, but oh well! I am looking forward to tomorrow's breakfast of chocolate muffins and dinner of spaghetti. I am also excited for visitor's day when I can show my family around this awesome camp.

Talya S:
I liked the chocolate croissants, my tent, the pool, and the water slides. I am looking forward to chocolate muffins, canteen, and kick-boxing.

Nathan W:
The things I like at camp so far are: basketball, my tent, the food, blogging, the pool, the ropes course, and hiking.

Jesse B:
It is very hot at camp. I like the pool, sleeping well, sports, the food, and sending letters. I still am looking forward to going on the ropes course.

Naomi E:
I want to go on the ropes course. I'm a little afraid to but be brave Naomi. Maybe it can help me climb a tree. Speaking of my goals I have one to add. I want to do kick-boxing. Since it's my sport I'm almost to my goal. It was so fun and so exciting but so much work.
